Wrestling Coach
Martin Strmiska grew up in Tracy, Ca. were he started wrestling at the age of 7. He wrestled for the Tracy Wrestling Club and later for Tracy High School. In high school he placed 4th at the CIF State tournament his junior (1984) year and failed to place as a senior. He capped his senior summer off by winning the Junior Nationals in Greco Roman. Later that summer he was invited to the 1985 Olympic Festival where he would claim gold out placing the #2 and #3 ranked on the senior level
In 1987, he joined the US Army and moved to Ft. Campbell KY to become a member of the All Army Wrestling Team. Martin would make his first Greco national team in 1989 placing at the US Open and World Team Trials (Olympic Festival). As military duty would call he deployed to Saudi Arabia for the remainder of 1989 and beginning of 1990. Upon return from Saudi he would rejoin the team at their new home in Ft. Benning, GA and their new title would be the Army World Class Athlete Program.
In 1992 while stationed at Ft.Benning and leading WCAP Program recruiting/wrestling clinics in Arizona he met his wife Michelle. They were married in 1993 and would spend the 1994-1995 season with surgeries and helping coach the team until their departure.
They moved back to California in 1995 to start their family and Victoria was born, followed by Jordan in 2001. Martin received his MIS Business Degree in 2002 from California State University Sacramento.
In 2009 following Michelle’s career path the family moved to Lakeway,TX. 2010 Coach Martin started coaching Vista Ridge youth club as his son Jordan became interested in the sport; he also coached on the Texas National Team Fargo. One of the coaches on that team was Coach Will McKinney (3F Founder).
In 2012 Coach Martin joins 3F Wrestling Staff with Coach Will and Coach John Sloan. In 2013 they had their first State Champion and over the years have been blessed to help develop many State Placers, State Champions, All Americans, and College wrestlers.
Coach Martin works in the Home Health industry, he and his wife Michelle have been married for 30 years. The Strmiska’s reside in the Lakeway area, both their children Victoria and Jordan graduated from Lake Travis HS. Victoria still lives and works in the Austin area. Jordan, who was a 4 time UIL State placer and a 2 time finalist graduated in 2019, now attends Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES!
